Patrick S

Patrick Saunders is a non-speaking Autistic artist and storyteller who communicates through a letterboard. He loves spelling, bushwalking, swimming, and movement, which inspire him. Patrick has a goal of making 100 social posts to share his experiences and advocate for non-speaking people.

Known for cycling across America with his parents and for appearing on the ABC podcast The Parenting Spectrum, he shares his experiences on The Story Speller, a website about non-speaking autism that uses S2C (Spelling to Communicate). His work aims to increase awareness and understanding of non-speaking autism.

​

Creating the Site took nearly 4 months due to motor-planning differences. With his father's guidance, Patrick spelled all content and chose images and colours, highlighting access, patience, and alternative communications.
